STORY

Strepsiade is a father full of debts due to the vices of his son, a gambler and idler. Determined to be taught how to defend himself and win everything with the power of the word, Strepsiade goes to Socrates and the Sophists who, like a choir of Clouds explains and exemplifies, know how to teach how to argue and win every game. The old man, however, struggles to understand and is replaced by his son, who witnesses the dispute between the best speech and worst speech, where the second prevails. Strepsiade soon realizes that his son has learned very well to overrule everything and everyone, including the father. Climbing to the roof of the school, he sets fire to everything.
