The program of the first year of the Academy includes a first phase of knowledge, development of communication skills, exchange and relationship between individuals and the group. The work focuses on enhancing the study of oneself and on improving and perfecting the ability to work with others; on the development of a correct relationship between emotion and voice, body, interpretation; on sensory observation, rhythm, chorality, ductility, empathy. During the first year, attention is also paid to first-sight reading, dialogue, text analysis, diction, the right use of the voice, singing, musical education: this is a fundamental work to develop the technical disciplines and lay the foundations on which to work during the second and third year of the Academy.
The second year of the Academy, in addition to the further development and improvement of all technical skills, entails a specific work on the short story and the novel. The goal is to refine and improve the students’ performance and interpretation skills, amplify the aptitude for precision, attention to details, the ability to diversify and adapt one’s interpretation, movements and voice to the characters. The work on the novel and the short story aims to get students used to ask themselves questions and to be able to grasp all the shades of the text. The second part of the academic year is instead dedicated to the preparatory workshops for ancient tragedy and comedy; the activities end with lessons open to the public.
The third year program of the Academy focuses in particular on meetings and workshops with directors and actors. It’s a job that allows students to confront themselves and learn directly from nationally and internationally recognized professionals, many of whom performed as main characters at the Greek Theater in Siracusa. Also during the third year there will be lessons open to the public and improvement activities of all technical and expressive skills. The three-year academic course ends with the presentation of the final essay and above all with the debut at the Greek Theater of Siracusa, in the productions included in the billboard of classical performances.
