Introduction
Behind every great performance at the Greek Theatre in Syracuse, there is an invisible thread that links history to the stage. That thread is theatrical costume.

The Inda Foundation presents “TRAME. On the history of theatrical costume from the 1900s through the stage costumes created for INDA performances”. An entire day dedicated to discovering how clothing becomes character and how INDA’s tailoring has preserved a unique artistic heritage for over 110 years.

Why participate?

  • Over a century of history: discover the INDA’s tailoring archive, from the early 1900s to the present day.
  • The experience of the masters: we will hear from costume designers and academics who have made the Syracuse seasons iconic.
  • Total accessibility: the conference will be held entirely online, allowing scholars, students and enthusiasts from all over Italy to participate comfortably.
We will discuss this with:

  • Laura Piazza (University of Turin): Turin: Stage costumes in the early seasons: from Puozzo to Cambellotti, to Bonetti’s dream
  • Loredana Faraci. Academy of Fine Arts in Catania: Narrative and character through theatrical costume. Syracuse from the School of Directing to the 1990s
  • Giovanna Giallongo. Archivist: The INDA historical costume archive. 1914/1998
  • Marcella Salvo. Head of INDA Costume Design: Costume design and the costume workshop at the Institute
